Marshmallow is a car insurance fintech focusing on immigrants ito the UK, a demographic that often faces difficulties obtaining insurance at similar prices to those born within the country.
Founded in 2017 by twin brothers Oliver and Alexander Kent-Braham, and David Goate. The founders found the disadvantage that people who move to the UK face because of how the industry neglects the demographic, pricing them at absurd rates.
They now help 100,000s of newcomers to obtain a fair deal on car insurance with over half a million policies being sold, making them the second fastest growing company in Europe.
£70 million investment for newcomers
The British Insurtech announced that it has gained almost £70 million worth of investment backing from Portage, BlackRock, and Columbia Lake Partners, combining equity and debt investments. These funds will help Marshmallow to expand its products and to support its plans to enter international markets, offering products to people who have relocated, bringing finance to people beyond the UK. The co-founders mentioned that even though Marshmallow has served over 1 million customers in the UK, broader financial challenges remain for those who are new to the country, and with the new capital, they hope to address the issue.

Marshmallow is rethinking how car insurance should work, making it easier, fairer, and more accessible.
